Fire Recovery Assistance

Dear Fire Families -

Please be aware of this. The second phase of fire relief efforts is called “long term recovery.” That means helping people with their long-term needs to restore them back to as close to “normal” as possible. Many grants — i.e. lots of money!– are thrown at this issue. Please be sure and contact these people to help you with long term concerns. It’s always worth asking the questions! There are several floating around so stay aware and informed!!

It can’t hurt to ask, “How can you help me?”

Councilwoman Boyack:

I read the article in the Monday edition of the North County Times titled: “Survivors of fires on path to recovery.” The article mentioned your involvement and efforts to help the fire survivors in North County. I was not sure if you were aware of our program here at Interfaith Community Services, so I wanted to provide you with our information.

We have received funding from the San Diego Foundation to assist survivors with on-going and long-term recovery needs. The attached flyer explains our services available; however, assistance is not limited to the items discussed. Please feel free to refer any clients our way, or to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for the care and work you are doing to provide much needed assistance to the survivors of this horrific disaster! Many people do not understand the long-term recovery involved with such an occurence.

Blessings,

I received a call this week from Tarvis Browning @OASIS re: meeting on Thursday, February 14th 12:30 to 2:30. He did not leave a telephone number. I would like to attend the educational seminar. Are you familiar with this meeting? Do I need to RSVP. I’ll look up OASIS telephone #. You might want to pass this seminar along to other readers. Education on normal reactions to disaster, coping skills, different stages of recovery. There will be crisis counselors and support groups (if needed). Thank you.
